Valentine’s Day will soon be here, and many people are looking for love in all the wrong places.
When I was eleven-years-old, Jim Vaus, who was a wiretapper for organized crime, came to speak at my church. He shared that God had His Son, Jesus Christ, go to the cross for my sins and that He would have done it just for me.
This moved me deeply.
Jim spoke about having someone that you could trust and that you would never be alone. He would be someone you could talk with anytime you needed Him.
As a young child, I felt very alone, as I saw what sin did to families and individuals when decisions were made from selfish desires. My siblings and I experienced the consequences of those decisions.
It was hard to believe that anyone could love me. I had a lot of trust issues and so much fear. Life for me was not peaceful as I never knew what was going to happen next.
Can you relate to the feelings of loneliness, living in fear and feeling anxious about tomorrow?
Things changed for me on that day so long ago.
I cannot explain in words how I felt that day, but my heart was drawn to the fact that God loved me. I decided that day to asked Jesus to be the center of my life, to guide me, lead me, and teach me how to be more like Him. I repented of my sins and asked Him to be my companion on the journey of life.
It was the best decision I ever made.
Life did not get easier for me. I continue to have struggles along the way and throughout my life. However, I have never doubted the love of Jesus Christ. He has always been by my side.
Do you understand how much the Lord Jesus loves you?
He knows everything about you.
There is nothing hidden from Him. He has a purpose for your life. There is absolutely nothing you must do to receive God’s love. It is free. A precious gift from Him to you.
Love is not just for couples, but for every one of us. Choose the love that will last forever and on into eternity.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life. // Psalm 23:6
