Shout joyfully to the Lord all the earth.
Serve the Lord with gladness;
come before Him with joyful singing
Know that the Lord Himself is God.
It is He who has made us;
and not we ourselves.
We are the people and
the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with Thanksgiving
and His courts with praise;
give Thanks to Him and
bless His name.
For the Lord is good and
His lovingkindness is everlasting;
His Faithfulness to all generations. (Psalm 100)
I am so grateful to God for His faithfulness. How about you? It is sometimes hard to be thankful for anything when you are going through difficult circumstances. What I have learned over the years is to be thankful for what I know is true. I know the Lord is good, His loving kindness is everlasting. He is faithful to me and all those who call upon His name. This is the first Psalm that I ever learned. In fact, I would not get paid for babysitting unless I taught the children in my care to learn the Psalm with me. When I look back at the wisdom this mother had! She knew that it was important to get the Word of God memorized. I thank the Lord for her wisdom and for teaching me a very important lesson. When I visit in the nursing homes I am amazed because those who have memorized scripture over the years will be able to recite them even at the age of 90! What has been stored in your memory God will bring forth when you need it. I have been with patients who have remembered verses to hymns, verses to some scripture even when they have forgotten their own names and names of their loved ones. So today I challenge you to memorize scripture so that you will be equipped on those days when nothing makes sense and you want to give up. You can count on God’s Word to be food for encouragement. I am praying for you.
